Product Details
1,3-Butanediol is an organic compound categorized as a secondary alcohol. It is mainly applied in surfactants, inks, and serves as a solvent for natural and synthetic flavoring agents. In addition, it acts as a comonomer for the production of specific polyurethane and polyester resins. In cosmetic formulations, 1,3-butanediol functions as a humectant to lock moisture, which is commonly used in hair sprays and setting lotions. It also has important pharmaceutical applications, covering the synthesis of colchicine derivatives for anticancer use, as well as the development of dual peroxisome proliferator-activated gamma and delta agonists, which are adopted as hypoglycemic agents for diabetes treatment.

Product Usage
1,3-Butanediol is mainly applied as an intermediate for producing polyester plasticizers and other chemical products, while also functioning as a solvent and humectant to serve as a versatile chemical intermediate. It is widely used in the manufacturing of structural materials such as boat components, custom molded parts, and construction sheets and boards, endowing the products with excellent weather resistance, flexibility and impact strength. In addition, it is adopted to synthesize saturated polyesters for polyurethane coatings, which can enhance the flexibility of polyester molecular chains. Moreover, 1,3-Butanediol is extensively added to a variety of personal care products.
