Product Details
Allura Red comes as a homogenous dark red powder with no distinctive smell. It dissolves readily in water, glycerol and propylene glycol, has marginal solubility in ethanol, yet cannot dissolve in grease and oils. Its aqueous solution carries a faint yellowish-red tint. This colorant features outstanding light and heat endurance, while it performs weakly against alkaline substances and redox reactions, a characteristic shared with other diazo-based red colorants.
Allura Red maintains stable properties in water-based systems with sulfur dioxide or hydrogen ions under pH 3 and above. It delivers excellent color retention performance: it takes on a red tone in neutral and acidic liquids, and shifts to deep red when placed in alkaline surroundings.
