Product Details
Product Description of Ethoxyquin CAS#91-53-2
Ethoxyquin (EQ or EMQ), also sold under trade names including Sandoquin and Hupiling, is a yellow to tan viscous liquid with a characteristic odor. It is insoluble in water but freely soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, gasoline, ether, alcohol, carbon tetrachloride, acetone, and alkyl dichlorides. The substance is susceptible to oxidation under natural light; exposure to air and oxygen may cause its color to darken to brown and its viscosity to rise. For best stability, it should be stored in airtight containers protected from light. This color change does not compromise its performance. Ethoxyquin is a synthetic antioxidant with a typical purity of 97.5%, mainly used as an antioxidant in food and feed products.

Product Application of Ethoxyquin CAS#91-53-2
Ethoxyquin is usually applied by spraying onto feed surfaces, where it effectively inhibits oil rancidity and protein oxidation, while also preventing vitamin decomposition and providing antioxidant protection. The recommended dosage in feed is 100–150 g/kg. Excessive application (above 0.1%) may cause pork fat to darken or yellow, which can adversely affect carcass quality.
Commercial products are generally available in two forms. One is a powder containing 10%–70% ethoxyquin, featuring stable physical properties, good fluidity and uniform dispersibility, enabling convenient and even mixing with feed. The other is a liquid formulation, usually prepared with water or glycerol as solvents.
